Rickitt Partnership

Covid-19 Working Practices

On 13 May 2020 the government announced amended regulations for the property industry with regard to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. In short, this permits construction to restart, estate agents to open and removal firms and conveyancers to recommence operations as long as prescribed biosecurity measures are adhered to.

With respect to Rickitt Partnership this allowed us to re-open the doors to our Chester city centre office on Monday 18 May and resume viewing and valuation appointments with strict biosecurity and social distancing measures in place.

Whilst we are delighted to be able to service our clients again, please rest assured that the health and safety of everyone concerned is and will remain our number one priority. To this end there have been a number of amendments to our working practices and we ask you to read through these (detailed below) before booking an appointment.

Visits to our Office

  • We would politely ask that, where possible, you contact us by telephone or email with any queries or questions and only visit the office if it is absolutely necessary to do so
  • You must not visit our premises if you or any of the people you live with feel unwell or are displaying any symptoms of Covid-19
  • Where possible we will leave the door to the office open during working hours, please avoid touching any surfaces in the office where possible
  • Please sanitise your hands as you enter the office
  • Please ensure you respect the 2 metre social distancing rule
  • No more than 2 visitors in the office at any one time. If you wish to enter the office but there are already visitors inside, please wait outside until they have left.
  • Visitor chairs have been placed 2 metres away from the desks and we ask that visitors do not go beyond the front desks
  • Unfortunately at this time we are unable to offer refreshments to clients

Guidance for Sellers: Visits to your premises – Valuation and/or measure-up

  • Our representative will bring their own sanitiser, gloves and mask. They will sanitise their hands before entering your property and will wear gloves and mask whilst in your property.
  • All equipment is sanitised immediately before and after being used in your home.
  • We politely ask that no more than 2 members of your family are in attendance for the meeting.
  • Please ensure that all doors are open or are opened by a member of your family.
  • We will respect the 2 metre distancing rule at all times and we ask that you do the same.
  • If you would prefer to keep the visit as timely as possible, we can telephone you from the car afterwards to discuss our thoughts
  • If you are shielding or classified as being in a vulnerable group please let us know in advance so that we can consider any additional measures that may need to be put in place.
  • All paperwork is to be conducted electronically

Guidance for Sellers: Visits to your premises – Viewings

Rickitt Partnership hosted viewings:

  • If we are hosting the viewing we politely ask that you and your family are not in the property during the viewing to reduce the number of people coming in to contact with each other. We suggest you wait in your car or other safe socially distanced place.
  • Our representative will sanitise their hands before entering your property and will wear gloves and a mask.
  • All doors need to be left open, including any door on to the garden and/or garage
  • All viewers are required to bring their own gloves and mask and will not be permitted entry if these are not worn.
  • Viewers are required not to touch any surfaces in your home
  • No more than 2 viewers who must be from the same household are permitted to view your home
  • The 2 metre social distancing rule is applied at all times
  • Once the viewers have left your property we advise that you sanitise surfaces such as worktops and door handles with antibacterial spray or alcohol wipes as an added security measure

Owner hosted viewings:

  • If you are hosting your own viewings please ensure that only one member of your household does this to minimise social contact
  • If you or any member of your household is feeling ill or showing symptoms of Covid-19 you must inform us prior to the appointment and it must be cancelled until a later date
  • Please adhere to the 2 metre social distancing rule at all times.
  • For your additional safety, we advise you to wear a mask if you have one
  • Please ensure that YOU open all doors
  • All viewers are required to bring their own gloves and mask and should not be permitted entry if these are not worn.
  • Viewers are required not to touch any surfaces in your home and will have been fully informed by us prior to the viewing
  • No more than 2 viewers who must be from the same household are permitted to view your home
  • Once the viewers have left your property we advise that you sanitise surfaces such as worktops and door handles with antibacterial spray or alcohol wipes as an added security measure

Guidance for Viewers:

  • If you or any member of your household is feeling ill or showing symptoms of Covid-19 you must inform us prior to the appointment and it must be cancelled until a later date
  • A maximum of 2 members of your household to attend the viewing
  • No children can attend viewings at this time
  • For your own and other people’s safety it is required that you wear gloves and a mask. We will be unable to offer you access to the property without these
  • We politely request that, once inside the property you adhere to the 2 metre social distancing rule at all times and that you refrain from touching any surfaces including doors, light switches or cupboards. Please ask the host if you would like to see something opened.

Please note that the above guidance only applies to properties in England. The regulations from the Welsh government differ and the property market over the border in Wales remains closed, meaning that we will be unable to offer viewings on properties in North Wales nor will we be able to attend valuations there until the regulations have been amended by the Welsh government.

With the above safety measures in place we look forward to working with both new and existing clients to help you to move on to your new home.

Keep Safe from all at RP X
