Good Afternoon, it is another gloriously sunny day and I was lucky enough to have another glorious house to review today. As you know, I don’t normally work on Mondays but this week I made an exception so that I could review Cassia Green Farm in Marton, a charming detached family house.
Feeling a little sleepy (as I normally have a lie in on Mondays) I set off at the crack of dawn to make my way to the charming village of Marton. Turning off the lane I approached a thoroughly attractive character house. The charming dormer windows give it a lovely cottage feel.
Climbing out the car I already felt at home as I crunched over the gravel driveway towards the oak framed open porch and front door. I entered a welcoming hall which gives the impression of a great deal of light and space.
As I explored the downstairs of Cassia Green Farm I realised to my delight that this house offers various accommodation options. But before I come to that, I first headed through the first door off the hall and found that it leads to a really spacious dining room, so spacious in fact that I reckon it could accommodate around 15-20 of my canine friends around a really large table.
My next stop was the drawing room which, with 2 sets of French windows and a lovely exposed brick fireplace with a log burner, struck me as both a perfect summer and winter room.
The windows were open to the garden this morning and it was lovely to see the seamless indoor/outdoor space in action. I couldn’t resist a quick trot outdoors and found myself on a patio overlooking the garden.
I looked at the immaculate garden longingly - I felt a game of catch calling me. However, first things first, I headed back into the house to continue my explorations.
Opposite the drawing room I found the kitchen which truly is the heart of this home. A fabulous, large and perfectly proportioned room, this is like a modern day farmhouse kitchen.
It is filled with natural light from four windows, there are a brilliant array of storage units (yes you know the drill – perfect for storing my various treats, toys and harnesses) and an Aga. There is plenty of room for a large farmhouse style table so it is a really sociable space where I could be with my whole family whilst keeping snug by the Aga and on the look out for food morsels – perfect! There is also a useful utility room and boot room.
Now we get to the interesting bit. Cassia Green Farm has another ground floor room which is currently used as a bedroom.
Personally I think this would be a great space to use as a sitting room or play room. With possibilities for this room running through my mind I headed back down the hall and trotted up the stairs to the first floor where I found four good-sized country style bedrooms, two with en suites and a family bathroom. The dormer style windows give the bedrooms a real cottage feel and made me feel very cosy and at home. I really felt that I would be able to relax in each and every bedroom and drift into a peaceful sleep, snoring softly without a care in the world!
Back downstairs and I was eager to explore the outside of Cassia Green Farm in more detail. The garden is so well kept that the lawn reminded me of a bowling green.
With the perfect condition of the lawn and the fact that it is quite a large expanse of green I anticipated that I could get up quite a speed whilst chasing my trusty tennis ball – with the theory put to the test I can indeed confirm that I managed to run so fast that my back legs temporarily overtook my front legs and I ended up in a bit of a tangle – oops! Once I had untangled myself I also discovered an oak framed car port (mum and dad would just have to take it in turns!) and a wooden building housing two stables. Now I get on well with horses, one of my best friends is a horse but as I see it, even if you didn’t have a horse, they would be a great place for storage.
Just as I was about to leave Cassi Green Farm I discovered how close it is to the Whitegate Way. I persuaded my dad to go on a quick walk before heading back to the office which was the perfect end to a visit to the perfect family home.
