Well there may be a decided nip in the air but, wrapped up in my home-knitted scarf and bobble hat, the cold was no match for me and it was with exuberance that I set off to review this week’s property. Or should I say properties – Ridley Wood Court in Ridley Wood is a development of charming barn conversions and we currently have three of them on the market.
They say time waits for no man and, indeed, no pug. We were only instructed on these properties on Wednesday but already we have had a flurry of interest so I thought that I had better not delay and headed off to see what all the fuss is about.
After a rather enjoyable journey to Ridley Wood – I surreptitiously flicked the switch to turn on the seat heater, oh what a treat to have such a lovely warm bottom! Jumping out the car in the courtyard at Ridley Wood Court, the cold air was a little bit of a shock so I scooted across the courtyard like an Olympic sprinter! My dad told me that we have numbers 2, 4 and 6 for sale, number 2 and number 4 are designed in a townhouse style and I headed over to investigate.
I trotted in to number two and found myself in a hallway, with what appeared to be plenty of accommodation leading off from it. Darting around I found a cloakroom, sitting room, kitchen and utility room downstairs. Upstairs I found no less than three bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate shower room.
With no time to lose, I set off to explore number four Ridley Wood Court. I was delighted to find that this townhouse was in finished in a similar style to the first, with an attractive cream coloured kitchen with contemporary shaker style units giving a modern farmhouse feel which made me think of winter’s evenings and roast dinners.
Salivating slightly at the thought of pork crackling I continued on my adventures and found a cloakroom, utility, sitting room and dining room downstairs as well as four bedrooms, one with an en suite, and a family bathroom upstairs. As I left the townhouses behind me I thought how amazingly spacious they are, so much so that they would perfectly suit a family with a couple of young pups.
Across the courtyard I spotted a detached house and was delighted to learn that this was number six- the next property on my list! With tail wagging and a rather high-pitched squeal of excitement, I gambolled across and straight through the front door, into the hallway. Heading through a doorway to the right I found a lovely open plan kitchen and living space.
Oh yes, I could envisage my family in here, all together. And what is more, the sleek tiled floor would work very well as an impromptu bowling alley – I could set up tins of dog food as skittles and use my favourite tennis balls as bowling balls. Dad always tells me that the objective of the game is not to chase the ball but I do think he has got himself a little confused…. Heading back to the hall, I found a further sitting room and a study and bounding up the stairs, I discovered three bedrooms, an en suite bathroom and a family bathroom. Outside is where number 6 became really interesting though – it has a front and back garden, a double garage and a six and a half acre paddock – wow. If I was feeling fitter, I would have done a lap around the perimeter however, I settled for a few short, sharp bursts into the paddock as my dad succumbed and threw my tennis ball for me a few times.
All in all, this is a wonderful development of barn conversions and I can see why they are attracting so much interest. There is an idyllic rural feel and yet it only takes approximately five minutes in the car (the way my dad drives!) to the charming villages of Holt and Farndon. From a discerning pug’s point of view, I cannot see anything not to like and there is no doubt that the properties at Ridley Wood Court will not be on the market for long.
Until next time
