I am feeling in a chipper mood now that the clocks have changed and British summer time has officially arrived. In anticipation of long walks in lazy sunshine (here’s hoping) I have been busy preparing an A-Z guide of Best Walks for Pugs in Cheshire. Having been given free rein with the office’s sticky labels I have taken great delight in categorising and colour-coding them – Best walks with opportunity for swimming, Most fragrant walks, Best walks for likelihood of titbits from adoring fans, Best walks for meeting likeminded canines etc…. Whilst this has kept me busy and, my mum says, out of trouble, I have nonetheless been careful not to neglect my official duties and so I found the time to visit another charming property last week for my latest Ralph’s Review.
On a somewhat blustery but dry day last week I set off for the ever-popular conurbation of Queen’s Park in Chester. The team at Rickitt Partnership had informed me that I was to visit a first floor apartment situated within a semi-detached Victorian house. How exciting, I love period properties and this sounded like a true gem of a city apartment perfectly underpinned with characterful charm. Arriving at 10A Queen’s Park all my expectations were met as I gazed up at an elegant Victorian house, complete with decorative brickwork and oversized chimneys! Without any further ado, I headed round to the back of the house and up a flight of stairs which led to the front door of the apartment.
Stepping over the threshold I found myself in a light and airy split-level hallway. On the lower level I discovered a beautifully styled bathroom and an equally well-presented utility room. I trotted up the stairs to the main hallway and discovered the reason why the space appeared so fabulously light – sunlight flooded in from an ornate, period-style frosted window. The apartment had a wonderfully welcoming feel and a natural flow of space which led me instinctively into the breakfast kitchen. I was thoroughly enthralled by the charming period feel which was perfectly complemented by the contemporary shaker-style kitchen units. I fell in love with the central island which would be the ideal place, not just to share breakfast but also drinks with friends or a casual meal – how exquisite for a food-oriented pug like myself!
My next stop was the sitting room which also abounded with the period features one would expect from a Victorian building – beautiful period-style windows, high ceilings and elaborate cornices – just the place to entertain the local Canine Watch society. Continuing my journey through this truly exceptional apartment I found a very handy study and two large bedrooms, one with an en suite shower room.
Apartments do not always have the benefit of outside space so I was especially thrilled to learn that 10A Queen’s Park enjoys some off road parking on a driveway (which is shared with the ground floor apartment). This, in turn, leads to a single garage which is owned by 10A. In addition, the two apartments share a garden which is situated at the front of the property.
I set off to explore this with my favourite squeaky toy in tow and was delighted to find an attractive lawned garden (with plenty of space to play catch in – I checked!) and a paved patio area which would be the perfect place to unwind with a good book, I always think you can’t beat a good classic like White Fang but then again I am also partial to a more modern classic like Marley and Me… Thoughts of books reminded me that I still had some work to do for my collection of Best walks for Pugs in Cheshire and so I cast a last glance at 10A Queen’s Park before heading back to the car and preparing to continue with my indexing!
If you are as charmed by 10A Queen’s Park as I was then do please give myself or one of my team a call on 01244 322322 to arrange a viewing.
Until next time
