Well what a busy week. Dad and John have been flying around like whirling dervishes with valuations and viewings coming out of their ears. Their hard work and professionalism (I know I am biased but it is true!) has paid off and we have taken on a number of new properties to sell this week. This meant that, rather than being able to lounge on the office sofa partaking in a bit of blue sky thinking I have actually had to do my fair share of hard work too! My second Ralph’s Review of the week comes from Newton and an attractive semi-detached family home.
I persuaded mum to drive me to Newton to see 24 Shepherd’s Lane. Normally dad and I go on these visits but I fancied a bit of mum and Ralph time (with the added motivation of a detour to Pets At Home where I hoped to persuade mum to buy me a new squeaky toy). When we arrived at the house in Newton we were able to park on the drive which is directly in front of the garage. I had a quick peak in the garage and although it is rather small it is a great place for storage.
Once inside the house I found myself in a very pleasant hallway which leads off to a sitting room on the left and the open plan kitchen family room straight ahead. With claws clattering cheerfully on the wood style floor I headed into the sitting room where my paws immediately sank into a luxurious carpet. Looking round I saw a lovely contemporary styled room with a coved ceiling and an attractive stone fire surround housing an electric fire – now this is appealing, on those chilly winter’s days, I really like the idea of instant warmth!
Heading back into the hall my next stop was the kitchen and family room. Well, what an attractive room. This is the perfect place for the family to gather together. I just love the contemporary, stylish feel. The kitchen units are modern with black granite effect work surfaces – so highly polished that I could see my face in them when mum lifted me up for a moment! I was especially enamoured with the very comfy looking sofa in the living area of the room. To be honest I just had to try it out and I can confirm that yes, this is the perfect place to curl up with a saucer of cocoa (if I was allowed) and a copy of 101 Dalmatians which is one of my favourite Sunday afternoon books.
Beyond the family room I found a dining room. With double doors that open to the garden, I nodded in approval at the very tasteful décor and furniture and it was easy to imagine fun filled dinners with human and canine friends and family in this lovely room.
This is a house which is surprisingly spacious and heading upstairs I was delighted to find no less than four bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate shower room. How wonderful, this fabulous house offers more than enough space for a growing family and even works for a family with teenage pugs, solving the problem of accommodating the endless hours they spend in the bathroom!
My last stop was to explore the garden. On my way in to 24 Shepherd’s Lane I had noticed a lawned area at the front of the house, but the main garden is at the back and there I found a lawn, a stone terrace and a small gravelled area. The garden is not huge but is large enough to be able to play a modest game of catch in and, as mum pointed out, it is very manageable to be able to look after.
All in all, 24 Shepherd’s Lane is a great family home which works perfectly for modern family living. The fabulous location is also a huge feather in this property’s cap and I have no doubt that this house will be snapped up very quickly. Oh, you will be relieved to know that I did manage to persuade mum to detour to Pets At Home on the way back and so I arrived back in the office proudly carrying a squeaky chicken!
Until next time
