We thought it was about time that we introduced you to the team behind Rickitt Partnership estate agents. Where better to start the ball rolling than by having a chat with Tim Rickitt, Director and co-founder of our Chester estate agency.
Timothy Grant Rickitt
WHAT MADE YOU FIRST GET INTO ESTATE AGENCY?
It was either this or the French Foreign Legion!! On balance, I decided that as I am partial to my creature comforts estate agency would be a more sensible option!
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
I started as a trainee negotiator for an estate agent in Knutsford, Cheshire, fresh from school in 1991. Being an outgoing person (anyone who knows me will smile at that under-statement!) I took to it like a duck to water. I thrived on the variety of the job, meeting new people and learning about a fascinating and quick-moving industry.
WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?
Achieving an improved and higher offer for my client, when they would have been happy to take the previous offer.
WHAT IS THE WORST PART OF YOUR JOB?
Having to tell a perspective buyer that their offer did not secure the property and that the client has decided to proceed with another buyer.
DESCRIBE RICKITT PARTNERSHIP IN 3 WORDS
Passion, commitment and enthusiasm
IF YOU WERE NOT AN ESTATE AGENT WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM JOB BE?
An army officer of the Blues and Royals or a F1 racing driver!! If there was a way to combine the two, well that would be fabulous. It would certainly cause a stir at the changing of the Guard….
Tim enjoying the famous Mille Milia Race in 1990
IF YOU HAD A SUPERPOWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
To never grow up either physically or mentally.
AFTER WORK WHAT DO YOU ENJOY….?
I find going to the gym helps me unwind after a long day in the office. I used to compete in triathlons both here and when I lived in New Zealand. The scenery and the quality of the lakes and seas were exceptional in NZ and it was a wonderful and absorbing hobby but one that I find I do not have the time for anymore unfortunately.
I also hugely enjoy watching a good film, it is a bit of escapism that is a great way to switch off from the pressures of the day.
3 THINGS THAT DEFINE YOU
- My energetic eccentric behaviour!!
- A good tailored suit, probably from Crichton Bespoke.
- My family - Emma, my step-son James and, of course, Ralph.
WHERE ARE YOU HAPPIEST?
Either at the office at 7.30am getting ready for the day ahead or relaxing in the South of France with my family!
