Rickitt Partnership to sponsor Farndon Soapbox Derby 2022

Being a family-run, independent estate agency we understand just how important community is - we are here to serve, and are also supported by our local community. During the last 18 months, when we have seen enforced social distancing and, in many cases, social isolation, it caused us to reflect on just how much we should value the people and services of our local areas.

With that in mind Rickitt Partnership are delighted to announce that we are one of the sponsors of The Farndon Soapbox Derby which will take place on Sunday 18 September 2022.  “What” we hear you cry “is that?!”  That is a very good question!  The Derby will be a fun-filled family day out centred around time trial races for gravity-powered homemade karts – sounds like fun doesn’t it?

As some of you may know, our Managing Director, Tim, has rather a passion for anything with or without an engine that goes fast!  In his younger days he raced in the XR2 Challenge before reluctantly deciding he should keep his feet on the ground but his passion for speed (and fun) remains. Tim and Emma also live in Holt, the neighbouring village to Farndon, so how could we resist supporting a local community event which is all about fun and speed?!.

The event has been set up to celebrate the community spirit that got us through the last 18 months.  An event which gives the whole family the perfect excuse to get together, have fun and laugh together whilst, at the same time, supporting local charitable organisations. The Hospice of the Good Shepherd, an exceptional charity which provides specialist palliative and end of life care for people in the local community, will be the main beneficiary of the funds raised by the event.  Some local village initiatives and good causes will also be supported.

We are already excited about this fantastic event taking place next September and we would love to see you there.  The entire village will be getting involved with The Farndon Primary School, The Farndon Community Centre and the local pubs hosting classic Village Fayre activities. There will be live music to dance to, a country market with local artisans showcasing their wares and to top it all off there will be a delicious post-race BBQ for all those hungry karters! So whether you fancy entering a team for the main event, in either the Junior or Senior categories; or whether you will prefer to come along as a spectator (around 5000 are expected so you will be in great company!) make sure you pop along and see us – you will be guaranteed a warm Rickitt Partnership welcome.  For more information about the event, how to enter and what to expect, have a look at the event website (link to derby website)

Happy Karting! X
